Seen your site today and wanted to clarify something. You have my mother down as the daughter of Sarah Angeline Jackson & John Emil Harris’s daughter. This is correct but the name is spelled Emilene Frances Harris. I would appreciate it if this could be corrected. Here are some of the latest demographics for Stray Leaves from quantcast.com . These stats only account U.S. visitors. Stray Leaves enjoys a large international audience, too, that increases these demographics by almost 26%. These demographics show clearly the interest that our James family (% regulars) generates among non-family members (% of visits). RANK = 200,613 among all U.S. websites. This site reaches approximately 5,872 U.S. monthly people. (My stats program shows about 7,880. The site attracts a mostly Caucasian, [...]
The James D. Julia auction house, in Maine of all places, is claiming an 1860 Army revolver they have for auction came through a “direct descendant of the James family.” The descendant is not identified. Some of the James family have lived in New England since the 1880s. The auction house does not identify the provenance for its claim that Jesse might have used an Army revolver. Frank & Jesse James already had a clear preference in guns. They used [...]
Just so recently I posted about Ted’s sister, Eunice Shriver & her contribution to our family. Now Ted Kennedy is gone, too. To Eunice Shriver & Ted Kennedy, their Special Olympics, & the health & education programs that they provided us, we owe a debt and so much gratitude. Because of them, our cousin Bobby Brush, born with down syndrome, has lived better & longer than expected. For the life Bobby has enjoyed, and for our joy in Bobby’s life, our family says – Thank [...]

David Owings sent me this fabulous photo. David is a 3rd great grand nephew of the brothers Gabriel George, Hiram J. George, and John Hicks George, all Quantrill Guerillas. The photo relates to guerilla John Hicks George who later became a doctor. At the time, becoming a doctor only took about 18 months of study. David and I are speculating if this is a class photos for John Hicks George while in medical school. linkscolor = “993300″; highlightscolor = “339900″; [...]

Another image of the tombstone of his grandparents William Andrew “Willie” Owens & Centennial Adkins. And a third image of his mother Mary Magdeline “Maggie” Owens, who was formerly mis-identified as Margaret Owens. Also, please note his name is Peterson, and not Patterson. This line formerly was featured as a New Found Line linkscolor [...]

Cyrenius Waite James (1831-1911) has been honored by the American Ex-Prisoners of War, Fort Worth Chapter. A nice memorial page has been mounted by the Thurmond Fairview Cemtetery Association regarding the event. Cyrenius was wounded, captured, and confined at Resaca, Georgia, until 1865. He was serving in Company B of the 79th Regiment of Illinois (Union) Infantry. While a POW, one night he dreamed of his daughter, choking on a peice of corn. His daughter had died that same night. Up [...]
When our cousin Bobby Brush was born to Eleanor Marie James, he was born with down syndrome. Sen. Ted Kennedy arranged for Bobby’s education in programs that evolved from Eunice Shriver’s Special Olympics. Bobby became a Special Olympian himself. Bobby learned to live a near-normal life, even working in a bank. At 48 today, Bobby, has lived far longer and better than expected. Thank you, Eunice Kennedy Shriver. linkscolor = “993300″; highlightscolor = “339900″; backgroundcolor = “FFFFFF”; channel = “none”; window.fbAsyncInit [...]
